Each month, we publish the Securities Operations Regulatory Update (SORU)
as part of our Regulatory Compliance Service.
The SORU is the premier monthly guide to pending regulatory changes relevant to securities operations. Within it you will find updates on key regulatory issues important to securities operations professionals, helpful synopses to better understand reasoning and implications behind new legislation and regulatory changes, and access to critical information regarding impacts to your compliance programs and regulatory requirements.
The regulatory actions in this month’s SORU include the long-awaited authorization of electronic signatures on Form U4, evidence of several fee adjustments, and the proposal of a new category of registration for non-DMM Market Makers at the NYSE, among other actions. This month’s enforcement actions, although limited, reflect a “back to basics” focus – proper screening of nonregistered personnel, required registrations of principals and appropriate amendments to Form BD, as well as reporting failures.
